Faith Baptist Church had its beginning as Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dwight N. Norville.  Property was later purchased from the Brethren Church at 118 South 11th. Avenue in Hopewell, Virginia.  The church was officially organized on February 26, 1966.  Brother Norville was later followed by the Rev. Paul Presley and Rev. Earl Fowlkes, who continued to help build the church.

Having pastored Faith for the past 22 years, I have seen the Lord work in a miraculous way.  Our new church facility has allowed us to expand our ministry and strengthen our church family.  The important thing to remember is that the Church of God is not the steeple, but the people.  We want to be known in the community as a Friendly church, a Praying church, and a Soul-winning church.  Our goal is to reach people for the cause of Christ.  The life, hope, and future of Faith Baptist Church will be influenced by the families and friends of our church members.
